  Core Strengths
The Core Knowledge Scope and Sequence supports every child’s ability to meet
high academic standards. Core Knowledge Curriculum’s fundamental belief is to
educate children in a way that fosters cultural literacy and expands their
understanding of the world around them. The scope and sequence of the Core
Knowledge Curriculum also helps students prepare for the upcoming learning
experiences and eliminates repetitions or gaps that occur in traditional
programs. The Core Knowledge Sequence builds on prior knowledge, allowing the
student to understand the introduction of new material because it is built on a
solid foundation. Cologne Academy aligns our curriculum to satisfy both
Minnesota Standards and the rigorous standards of Core Knowledge. To find out
more about this curriculum, please visit http://www.coreknowledge.org
Core Knowledge is infused in all subject areas including: Language Arts,
Math, Science, History and Geography.
Cologne Academy offers all students Spanish starting in kindergarten, in
addition to physical education, music, art, and media.
The Core
Virtues curriculum is also integrated into everyday learning
opportunities and Cologne Academy has high expectations for behavior and
citizenship.
