Cyber Village Academy
Overview Cyber Village Academy (CVA) is one of Minnesota’s most unique public schools, with three separate levels of programs.
The Fusion program, a Grades 4-8 program, is a unique blend of on-campus and distance learning. Students come to the CVA campus 3 days/week and are online 2 days/week. In addition, it is the only charter school in the state that is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) World School. The IB program specific serves grades 6, 7 and 8, however much of the IB philosophy and program is also embodied in the 4th and 5th grades.
The PASCAL program is 100% online, and serves grades 3-8.
The High School to College program prepares students in grades 9-10 for the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program offering college classes to high school juniors and seniors and provides students with unique opportunities in career exploration and preparation. Beginning in 2011-2012, the program will consist of a blended schedule where students come to CVA on Monday and Tuesday and work online Wednesday through Friday. This blended schedule is modeled after CVA's Fusion program. It provides students with both the interaction and collaboration of on-site attendance as well as the flexibility and individualization of online work.
After twelve years on Energy Park Drive in Saint Paul, last Fall the school moved to a new location in Saint Paul’s Highland neighborhood, sharing facilities at the Talmud Torah building.

Core Strengths With the combination of 3 days on-site and 2 days on-line each week, the addition of the IB designation, and a broad blend of academic and hands-on approach to learning , CVA might just be the embodiment of what charter schools in Minnesota were suppose to be about -- innovation. Against the backdrop of a solid academic program, strong leadership and great teachers, the CVA student can develop and craft an individual educational plan to meet his or her individual needs, learning styles and interests.
David Alley, one of Minnesota charter school pioneers who has work with dozens of charter schools in various leadership and management capacities, continues to guide Cyber Village Academy through its ongoing development – a main reason for the school’s ongoing success. |
